Asian Pear Jam
From Gem's Vegetarian Cooking
Our current house has an Asian Pear tree! This jam is a mixture of the Sure Jell Pear recipe and a Pear Jam recipe on Allrecipes.com.
Makes 6 cups
- 4 cups finely chopped Asian Pears
- 2 tbs lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp ground allspice
- 1 tsp butter
- 1.75 oz pkg of Sure Jell
- 5 cups sugar
Combine all ingredients except the sugar in a large sauce pan and bring to a rolling boil, stirring constantly. Add the sugar all at once and bring back to a rolling boil, stirring constantly. Once at a roiling boil, boil for 1 minute and then ladle into prepared containers. To store, follow the Sure Jell instructions for cooked jam.
